How to track a Carrd site: visits, sections and signups
Add a tracking tag to Carrd with a hidden Embed element, why one-page sections count as one page, and how to count signups and link clicks.
On this page
Carrd builds one-page sites: landing pages, link-in-bio pages, waitlists and portfolios. It has no analytics dashboard of its own, so the question is how to add one, and how to measure a site where most of the action is a click to somewhere else.
Install Sporetag on Carrd
Custom code needs Carrd's Pro Standard plan or higher (Carrd).
- In Sporetag, add your Carrd site's address and copy the tag from Set up your site.
- In the Carrd builder, click Add Element, then Embed.
- Set Type to Code and paste the tag into Code.
- Set Style to Hidden, then pick Head.
- Publish the site, open it in a new tab and click Check my site in Sporetag.
Carrd does not run embedded code inside the builder, so test on the published site (Carrd).
Use your own domain
Carrd sites can publish to a .carrd.co address or a custom domain; custom domains also need Pro Standard or higher (Carrd). Add the address your visitors actually see. If you move from yourname.carrd.co to your own domain, add the new domain in your analytics, or the visits stop counting.
Sections count as one page
A Carrd site can have several sections, and each one is reached by a # link, such as yourname.carrd.co/#work (Carrd). The page itself never changes.
Most analytics tools, Sporetag among them, count a pageview when the page path changes, not the part after #. So a visitor who moves from your intro to #work to #contact is one pageview. To know how far people get, look at clicks on the links in each section, or at scroll depth.
Count what matters on a one-page site
On a Carrd site, the valuable action is usually a click out or a form:
- Outbound links. Clicks to your shop, booking page or socials. Count them as a goal; most tools see them without code.
- Signup forms. Count the form send itself. If your form sends people to a separate page afterwards, a visit to that page works too. A thank-you section reached with
#does not change the path, so it cannot be a page goal. - Downloads. A media kit or PDF linked from the page.
See goals without a developer for the checks that keep each goal honest.
Track the links that bring visitors
Carrd sites often are the link in a bio. Each place you share it should carry its own source:
- a short link per profile or post, such as
go.yourname.com/igandgo.yourname.com/tt, - tagged with UTM parameters for the source and placement.
Without tags, visits from Instagram and TikTok apps often arrive with no referrer and look like direct traffic. See how to track an Instagram link in bio.
Common questions
Does Carrd have analytics?
Carrd has no analytics dashboard of its own. Add a tracking tag with an Embed element, which needs Pro Standard or higher.
How do I add Google Analytics or another tracking code to Carrd?
Add an Embed element, set Type to Code, paste the tag, and set Style to Hidden with the Head location. Publish, then test on the live site.
Why does my Carrd site show only one page in analytics?
Carrd sections are reached with # links, which do not change the page path. Analytics tools count those as one page.
Can I track clicks on my Carrd buttons?
Yes. Clicks on links to other sites can be counted as events without code in most tools, and made into goals. Buttons that only jump to another section are # links and stay on the page.
