How to track GoHighLevel funnels and websites, from ad to booked call
Where the GoHighLevel tracking code goes, how to avoid double counting funnel steps, and how to see which ads bring leads, booked calls and won deals.
On this page
GoHighLevel (HighLevel) runs the funnels, forms, calendars and pipelines for many agencies and their clients. It keeps its own attribution on each contact. The gap is the part before the form: which ad, ad set, post or email brought the visit, and how that compares across every funnel and client in one view.
Install Sporetag on GoHighLevel
- In Sporetag, add the domain the funnel or website runs on and copy the tag from Set up your site.
- In HighLevel, go to Sites, open the funnel or website, and click its Settings tab.
- Paste the tag into Head tracking code.
- Click Save.
- Open a published page of the funnel and click Check my site in Sporetag.
HighLevel's own help article covers the same steps, and the page-level alternative (HighLevel).
Do not install it twice
HighLevel lets you add code at the funnel or website level and again on a single page. Adding the same script at both levels counts every pageview twice. Use the funnel or website level only. Page-level code is also not copied when you duplicate a step, which is another reason to keep it at the top.
HighLevel notes that scripts it adds may be injected in the browser, so they may not show in View page source. Check with the browser's developer tools, or Sporetag's Check my site.
The domain matters
Sporetag counts visits only from the domain you added and its subdomains. If a client's funnel runs on offer.clientbrand.com, add clientbrand.com or that exact subdomain. Funnel previews on HighLevel's own preview domains are not counted, which keeps your own testing out.
From visit to lead to booked call
- Forms and surveys: Sporetag's form capture (90-day tracking) counts sends from forms with an email or phone field; press Test it to confirm it sees yours. Or count the thank-you step as a goal.
- Calendars: count the booking confirmation step as a goal, so booked calls show by campaign.
- Won deals: Sporetag's GoHighLevel connector, which reads contacts and opportunities and counts a won deal once as a sale, is (when shipped). Until then, send won deals with a HighLevel workflow webhook to Zapier or Make, then to Sporetag's Events API on paid plans.
Reporting across clients
Agencies with many sub-accounts usually want one comparable view: leads, booked calls and cost per lead per client, from the same rules. Add each client's funnel domain as its own site, label it with the client's name, and use the same goal templates on each, so every client's report reads the same way. See client reporting for agencies.
Common questions
Where is the tracking code in GoHighLevel?
In the funnel or website Settings, under Head tracking code or Body tracking code. Single pages also have their own tracking code fields in the builder.
Why are my GoHighLevel pageviews doubled?
The same script is installed at both the funnel and the page level. Remove one.
Does GoHighLevel track UTM parameters?
HighLevel keeps attribution on each contact, including UTM tags from the visit that created it. Your analytics still needs the tags to compare sources across funnels and clients.
