How to track a Kajabi site: sources for signups and course sales
Add a tracking tag to Kajabi with Header Page Scripts, why it does not run on checkout pages, and how to see which posts, emails and ads sell your courses.
On this page
Creators on Kajabi usually sell through content: Instagram, YouTube, a podcast, an email list. Kajabi has its own analytics and native integrations for Google Analytics and the Meta pixel. What creators want to know is which post, email or mention brought the people who bought, and that depends on tagged links more than on any dashboard.
Install Sporetag on Kajabi
- In Sporetag, add the domain your Kajabi site uses and copy the tag from Set up your site.
- In Kajabi, open Settings, then Site details.
- Under Page scripts, paste the tag into Header Page Scripts.
- Click Save.
- Open your site in a new tab and click Check my site in Sporetag.
Kajabi places Header Page Scripts in the head of every page on your site, and suggests the same field for analytics tools it has no native integration for (Kajabi).
Checkout pages are separate
Header Page Scripts do not run on Kajabi's checkout pages, which have their own Checkout Tracking Code setting under Settings, Checkout (Kajabi). So a tag in the header sees landing pages, sales pages and blog posts, and stops at checkout. Count the sale another way:
- Thank-you page: count the visit to your offer's thank-you page as a goal. Quick, and good enough to compare sources.
- Payments: if your offers take payments through a Stripe account you own, the Stripe connector reads payments, refunds and subscriptions on paid plans.
- An automation tool: send purchases from Kajabi through a tool such as Zapier, if your Kajabi plan supports it, to the Events API on paid plans.
Use your own domain
Sporetag counts visits only from the domain you added and its subdomains. If your site still runs on a mykajabi.com address, add that address, then add your custom domain when you connect it.
Make content traffic count
Content traffic is where sources get lost: links in Instagram bios, YouTube descriptions and podcast notes often arrive with no referrer. For each place you share a link:
- use a short link per placement, such as
go.yourbrand.com/yt-octfor one video, - tag it with UTM parameters, so the visit carries the source,
- compare sales by placement, not by clicks.
A podcast mention can only be tracked with a short, speakable link. See how to track an Instagram link in bio for the same method on Instagram.
Common questions
Does Kajabi have analytics?
Yes. Kajabi has its own analytics and native integrations for Google Analytics, the Meta pixel and Segment. Other tools go in Header Page Scripts.
Why is my tracking code not working on Kajabi checkout?
Header Page Scripts do not run on checkout pages. Kajabi has a separate Checkout Tracking Code setting for those.
Can I see which Instagram post sold my course?
Yes, if each post or story uses its own tagged short link and you count sales by that tag.
