How to track Linktree clicks and the sales after them
What Linktree's analytics, GA4 and Meta pixel integrations track, what they miss, and how to tie a bio link click to the sale on your own site.
On this page
Linktree counts views and clicks on your page, and on its Pro and Premium plans sends page views to GA4 and page views and link clicks to a Meta pixel (Linktree, Linktree). What it cannot see is what happens after the click: the signup or sale on your own site. To connect the two, tag each Linktree button's link with UTM parameters, so your site's analytics knows the visit came from your bio.
Linktree runs no custom scripts, so other analytics tools cannot be installed on a Linktree page. This page covers what each integration gives you and how to measure past the click.
What Linktree tracks, and where
| Integration | Plans | Sends |
|---|---|---|
| Linktree's own analytics | Built in; detail depends on plan | Views of your page and clicks per link |
| Google Analytics | Pro and Premium | Linktree page visits, shown in GA4 Realtime under Top Active Pages |
| Meta pixel | Pro and Premium | PageView on each visit and linkClick on each click, with optional Conversions API |
The linkClick event lets you build a Meta audience of people who clicked a link in your bio (Linktree).
Install the GA4 integration on Linktree
- In Google Analytics, open Admin, Data Streams, your web stream, and copy the Measurement ID.
- In Linktree, open Settings, then Analytics.
- Paste the ID into the Google Analytics ID field under Google.
- Visit your Linktree, then check GA4's Realtime overview. Linktree says it can take at least 5 minutes.
Measure past the click
Linktree's numbers end at the click. The sale happens on your site. Three things connect them:
- Tag every button's link with UTM parameters:
utm_source=instagram(or wherever the Linktree lives),utm_medium=social,utm_content=bio, and autm_campaignper offer. Your site's analytics then credits the visit, and the sale, to your bio. - Without tags, bio traffic looks like direct. Instagram and TikTok open links in their own in-app browsers, which often send no referrer, so an untagged visit lands in direct traffic.
- Use one Linktree per channel if you share it in several places, or add
?utm_source=to the Linktree address you share in each, so you can tell Instagram from TikTok.
The link in bio guide walks through a full setup, including counting sales from the bio.
Do you need Linktree at all?
If your bio has one or two links that matter, a short link on your own domain does the same job with one tap less: it counts the click on its server and forwards straight to your page with its tags. A link page earns its place when you have many destinations and want to change them often.
Common questions
Can I add Google Analytics to Linktree?
Yes, on Linktree's Pro and Premium plans. Paste your GA4 Measurement ID under Settings, Analytics. It sends visits to your Linktree page.
Can I add a tracking script to Linktree?
No. Linktree supports its listed integrations, such as Google Analytics and the Meta pixel, but not custom scripts.
How do I see which Linktree link led to a sale?
Add UTM parameters to each button's link, with a different utm_content or utm_campaign per button, and read sales by those values in your site's analytics or store.
Does the Linktree Meta pixel track link clicks?
Yes. Linktree's Meta pixel sends a linkClick event on each click and a PageView on each visit.
