How to track a Webflow site: visits, sources and form leads
Add analytics to Webflow with one line in Site settings, see which ads and posts bring form leads, and the plan and publishing rules that trip people up.
On this page
Webflow sites are often marketing sites for agencies' clients: a few landing pages, a form, and paid traffic pointing at them. The question is almost always the same: which ads and posts bring form leads, and what does each lead cost?
Webflow sells its own analytics, Webflow Analyze, as an add-on to site plans, priced by sessions (Webflow), and many teams add GA4 through Webflow's integrations panel. Either way, the number that matters is form sends by source, and that needs the visit's source attached to the lead.
Install Sporetag on Webflow
- In Sporetag, add your site's published address and copy the tag from Set up your site.
- In Webflow, open your site's Site settings, then Custom code.
- Paste the tag into the Head code box and click Save.
- Publish the site. Custom code runs only on the published site, not in the Designer.
- Click Check my site in Sporetag, then open the published site in a new tab.
Webflow may ask for a site plan before custom code is allowed. The Webflow install guide has the details.
Staging and production
A Webflow site has a webflow.io staging address and your custom domain. Sporetag only accepts visits from the address you added and its subdomains, so add the custom domain your visitors use. Visits on the staging address are not counted, which keeps your own testing out of the numbers.
Count form leads by source
Webflow's native forms send without leaving the page. To count them:
- Without code: turn on Capture emails from my forms automatically on Sporetag's Profiles tab (90-day tracking). A form with an email or phone field counts a "Form sent" event and creates the person's profile, with the source of their visit. Press Test it to confirm it sees your form.
- With a goal: the Someone fills in a form goal template counts those sends, so the dashboard shows leads and cost per lead by campaign once ad spend is connected.
Embedded booking or form widgets from other tools run inside an iframe on another domain. No script on your page can see inside them. Use the tool's own notifications or a webhook, and send the result with the Events API on paid plans.
Make the source survive
Agencies running ads to Webflow pages should tag every ad with UTM parameters, and keep auto-tagging on in Google Ads. Test each landing page and each redirect you set up with ?utm_source=test, and check the tag is still in the address bar when the page loads.
Common questions
Does Webflow have built-in analytics?
Webflow Analyze is a paid add-on to site plans. Without it, you add a tool through custom code or an integration.
Why is my Webflow custom code not running?
The site has not been published since you added it, or you are looking at the Designer preview. Custom code also needs a plan that allows it.
Can I track Webflow form submissions as conversions?
Yes. Use a form capture feature, a form submission trigger in your tag manager, or Webflow's form webhooks sent to your analytics.
How do agencies report Webflow leads to clients?
Count form sends by source and campaign, divide ad spend by leads for cost per lead, and send it on a schedule. See client reporting for agencies.
