Clients
Client reports
Build an email report from your dashboard's numbers, charts and ads, then send it to clients weekly, monthly or both.
A client report is an email with a site's numbers. You build it from the same charts and numbers as your dashboard, add a few words, and Sporetag sends it on a schedule. Your clients see ad spend, sales and visits without logging in anywhere.
Client reports are part of the Studio and Agency plans.
Or ask the assistant, like "Make a weekly ads report for my client". It proposes the report with its schedule on a card; you add client addresses there and press Apply.
Make one
- Open the site, then Reports.
- Under New report, pick a template:
| Template | What it holds | Sent | |---|---|---| | Weekly ads report | Spend, revenue from ads, ROAS, cost per sale, campaigns and platforms | Mondays, for last week | | Monthly performance | Visitors, conversions, revenue, spend, top sources and pages, goals, ad spend | The 1st, for last month | | Ecommerce summary | Revenue, orders, conversion rate, ROAS, sales by store, where buyers came from | Mondays, for last week | | Lead gen summary | Conversions, conversion rate, cost per lead, spend, goals, campaigns and sources | Mondays, for last week | | Blank | A heading and a short note | Mondays, for last week |
- Change anything you like, then click Save.
A site can have up to 20 reports. Duplicate copies one, paused, so it does not send twice while you change it.
Build it
A report is one column of blocks, top to bottom. Click a block to open its settings. Use the arrows to move it, and the bin to remove it. Add block adds one under the block you have open.
Numbers and charts work as they do on the dashboard: pick a metric (website, sales, ads or email and texts, for all platforms or one), rows, a filter, and for ad tables which campaigns show, the sort, the columns and how many.
| Block | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Number | One metric, with the change from the period before |
| Line chart, Bar chart | A metric for each day. Email apps cannot draw curves, so both arrive as bars. |
| Table | The top rows of a breakdown, such as sources or campaigns |
| Goals | Each goal and its conversions |
| Ad spend | Spend, revenue and ROAS, then the rows you picked |
| Sales, Email and texts | What your connected store or email tool reports |
| Heading, Text | Your own words, with merge fields |
| Highlights | The biggest changes, written for you (see below) |
| Divider | A thin line |
| Image or logo | Your logo, or an image at an https address |
Tick Side by side on two blocks in a row to put them next to each other. On a phone they stack, except two numbers, which stay side by side.
Conversion numbers and the Goals block are left out while the site has no goals.
Merge fields
Type these into a heading, a text block or the subject. Each one becomes its value when the email is sent.
| Field | Becomes |
|---|---|
{client_name} | The site's client name, else the site's name |
{site_name} | The site's name |
{period} | The days the report covers, like "Oct 12 to Oct 18" |
{top_campaign} | The best campaign (see Highlights) |
{top_source} | The source with the most visitors |
{agency_name} | Your brand name |
{report_name} | The report's name |
{visitors}, {conversions}, {revenue}, {spend}, {roas} | That total for the period |
A field Sporetag does not know stays as you typed it, so a typo shows in the preview.
Highlights
The Highlights block writes 2 to 6 short lines from the numbers. It compares the period with the one before and puts the biggest changes first: ROAS, revenue, ad spend, visitors, conversions, orders, the source that moved most, and the best campaign.
The best campaign is the one with the highest ROAS among campaigns with at least 5% of the spend. Without ROAS, it is the one with the most sales, then the most clicks.
No AI writes these. Each line is a fixed sentence filled in with your numbers.
Preview
The preview on the right is the real email, drawn for the last finished period. Switch between Desktop and Phone, and Light and Dark, to see it as your client will.
Schedule
- Every week on a day you pick, every month on a day you pick, or both. Day 29 to 31 sends on the last day in shorter months. When both fall on the same day, only the monthly one goes.
- Covers: last 7 days, last week (Monday to Sunday), last month, or month to date. Month to date sent on the 1st covers the whole month before.
- Send at: a time on the quarter hour, in the time zone you pick. New reports start in your browser's time zone. Daylight saving moves with the clock.
Every change compares with the same span just before. A whole month compares with the month before.
Untick both to stop sending on a schedule. Pause stops it until you resume it.
Recipients and sender
- Me: your own address.
- Invited clients: all the people you invited by email, only the ones you pick, or none. Someone whose access you revoke stops getting it.
- More addresses: up to 10 more.
- Subject: with merge fields.
- From name and Reply-to: replies go to the reply-to address. New reports start with your own address there.
Each email has a View the live report button. It opens a read-only page with the latest report. Anyone with the link can open it, and search engines are told not to list it. The link is on the report's page under Manage.
Each email also has an unsubscribe link. It stops that report for that one address.
Your brand
With Studio, your logo is at the top when you add one in Settings. The email comes from Sporetag, or from "Your name via Sporetag" when you fill in a from name. With Agency, the email is white label: your logo or brand name at the top, your name as the sender, and no Sporetag name or logo. The email still comes from our sending address.
Send now, test, PDF
- Send me a test sends the saved report to you alone. Its subject starts with "Test:".
- Send now sends the saved report to everyone it goes to. Click it twice to confirm.
- PDF opens a print-ready page. Click Save as PDF, then pick Save as PDF in your browser's print window.
Both send buttons save your changes first. You can send up to 5 reports and 10 tests an hour.
Sent
The Sent list shows the last sends: when, which period, and how many went out. Sporetag's email service says whether each email left, not whether it was opened, so there are no open counts.
If the site's visit stats cannot be read when a report is due, Sporetag tries again every 15 minutes for 12 hours. After that it skips that send and says so in the list, rather than sending a report full of zeros.
Your old weekly report
If a site had addresses under Weekly report in its settings, they moved to a report named Weekly report on the Reports tab. It holds the same numbers and goes to the same people at the same time, Monday at 13:00 UTC. Change it like any other report.
