Dashboards

Boards built for your site, a breakdown behind every number, cards that say why they are empty, monthly targets, and edits that save themselves.

On this page

Each site opens on its dashboard: a board of cards, each one a number, a chart or a table. Every card follows the period and the comparison at the top (see Pick the dates).

Boards built for you

Sporetag builds the first board from the kind of site and what you have connected. Until you change its cards, it keeps itself current: connect Meta or Stripe and the cards for them appear on their own.

Click the dashboard's name to switch boards. New dashboard starts one from a board for your business:

BoardWhat it holds
OverviewPicked for this site from what you connect
StoreRevenue, orders, return on ads, the funnel
Lead genLeads, cost per lead and where they come from
SaaSSignups, MRR and lifetime value by source
Local serviceCalls, form leads and cost per lead
ContentReaders, top pages and newsletter signups
Agency clientThree numbers and the goal, for a client
BlankStart empty and add cards

The same menu has Duplicate, Rename, Earlier versions and Set as default. Each person can have 1 board per site on Free, 5 on Solo, 12 on Studio and 25 on Agency.

See what makes a number

Click a number, an ad tile or a point on a chart to open its breakdown. It slides in from the right, or up from the bottom on a phone. It shows the number for the period, or for the day you clicked, split up to four ways:

  • Visits: Source, Campaign, Page and Device.
  • Ads: Platform, Campaign, Ad set and Ad.

A split the card is already filtered on is left out. The foot of the breakdown has one link that goes deeper:

  • See these visitors opens Profiles with the people seen in that span, on sites with 90-day tracking.
  • Open in Attribution opens the ads on the Attribution report.
  • Add a note writes a note on that day, from a day on the main chart.

Press Escape or click outside to close it.

When a card has no numbers

A card with nothing to show says why in one line, with one button to fix it:

The card saysThe button
No ad account connected yet.Connect your ads, or the platform the card is about, such as Connect Meta Ads
No store connected yet.Connect your store, or the store the card is about, such as Connect Shopify
No email tool connected yet.Connect your email tool, or the tool the card is about, such as Connect Klaviyo
Stripe is not connected yet.Connect Stripe
No tracking number yet.Set up call tracking
Pick what counts as a lead.Add a goal
No visitors in this range, or the card's own number, such as No signups in this range.Try last 30 days, when the range is shorter than 4 weeks
Tracking started Oct 12.Show from Oct 12, when the whole range is before the first visit
On Solo, Studio and Agency.See plans, or a free trial if you never had a paid plan
This card could not load.Try again

Days before the first tracked visit show as no data, not zero. Charts start their visit lines on that day, and the main chart gets a Tracking started note, unless you imported history from before it.

When numbers are late

A card whose numbers come from a connected tool says so when they are older than they should be:

  • Meta synced 9 h ago: an ad platform that has not synced for 4 hours, or a store or email tool for 1 hour.
  • Meta stopped Oct 21. with Reconnect: the connection broke. The card keeps the numbers it had.

Filters that cannot apply

Filters at the top narrow visits. Ad spend, sales, email and calls have no visitor source, so those cards are grayed out and say Not filtered. A UTM campaign filter on its own does narrow ad numbers to that campaign.

What the card sentences mean

When a comparison is picked at the top, a number card with Compare to previous period on can add one sentence that names what moved it, such as "Signups up 22%, mostly from Meta (+31)". A one-row card shows only the second half: "Mostly from Meta (+31)".

A sentence shows only when all of these are true:

  • The period before had at least 10.
  • The change is 15% or more, and at least 5.
  • One source or platform made at least half of the change, and at least 5 of it.

When the change is spread thin, there is no sentence. The card's percent already says it. In the simple view, up to two of these sentences from the number cards clients see follow the summary.

The unusual dot

When a number moved far from a usual day for that weekday, its number card gets a dot in the header, and on a card half the board wide or more, the words "Unusual for a Tuesday". Point at it to read what changed and its likely cause. Click it to open the change on Alerts. It shows on visitors, your goal's conversions and conversion rate, revenue, ad spend and cost per result. See Unusual changes.

Monthly targets

Give a number card a target and it shows where you stand this month.

  1. Open the card's menu and choose Edit this widget.
  2. Under More, type a number in Monthly target. Clear it to remove the target.

The card grows to two rows for a bar, a mark for where it should be by today, and one line:

  • For a total, such as visitors, signups, revenue or spend: "236 of 500 this month", then "Needs 18 a day, getting 15" or "On pace for 520". Once the site has 4 weeks of data, pace is weighted by its busy and quiet weekdays over the last 8 weeks, so a quiet Monday does not read as behind.
  • For a rate or a cost per one, such as conversion rate or cost per lead, there is no pace. The month so far is held against the target: "$22 this month" and "Target $25 or less".

The status reads On track at the target's pace or better, Close at 90% to 99% of it, and Behind under 90%. A number where lower is better, like a cost per lead, reads Over instead of Behind. Nothing is judged in the first 2 days of the month. A total that reaches its target reads Hit and Target reached.

On day 10 and day 20 of the month, a target that is Behind or Over sends the A target falls behind alert, once per target per month. Turn it off in Alerts, under the site's Alert settings. Targets on the dashboard your clients see also show in the simple view and in client report emails.

Change a dashboard

There is no Save button. Every change saves itself about a second after you make it.

  • Add card opens one sheet: Suggested cards picked from your own numbers, each with why; Search every card; and Or start a new dashboard. A card you pick lands where you are looking. You do not need to press Edit first. A dashboard holds 24 cards.
  • Edit lets you move cards and change them. Drag a card by its header, or select one and use the arrow keys. A card's menu has Chart settings, Duplicate, Move up, Move down and Remove. In Chart settings, pick the Metric, Show as (Number, Line, Bar or Table) and Split by. Title, filters (up to 3), goal, compare, target and size are under More.
  • On a phone or tablet, press Arrange while editing to move cards up or down, or remove them, from a list.
  • The bar says Saving, then Saved. Press Done when you are finished.

Undo and earlier versions

Undo and Redo go back and forward up to 50 steps while the page is open, in or out of editing. Cmd+Z or Ctrl+Z undoes. Add Shift, or press Ctrl+Y, to redo. Adding a card, removing one, Reset and Restore each show a message with Undo, so none of them asks first.

Earlier versions, in the menu under the dashboard's name, keeps the last 20 versions of the board, each with its time and number of cards. A burst of quick changes is one version: a new one is kept only when the board had stood for 5 minutes, and before every Reset and Restore. Press Restore next to a version to bring it back.

If a change does not save

  • This dashboard changed in another tab. Reload to see it. Another tab saved first. This tab stops saving, so it never wipes that change. Press Reload.
  • Not saved. Check your connection. Press Try again once you are back online. The change waits until then.

Closing the tab sends any change still waiting. Shared links, client logins and the demo never save changes.
